LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The weather cooperated for a little spring cleaning at the Johnny Appleseed Metro Parks on Friday.
Volunteers from the Ford Lima Engine Plant grabbed the shovels and pitch forks and fanned out to take care of a long list of projects. Five different crews were busy spreading mulch, laying down stone, cleaning up brush along Lima Lake and splitting wood for campers to use at Ottawa Metro Park.
This is the 34th year that the Ford volunteers have come out to lend a hand, a bit of a field trip from their normal work day and a chance to make a difference.
"People do enjoy to be able to get just away from the work, because you're you're in nature," said Tina Hentrich, an environmental engineer for the Ford Lima Engine Plant. "In nature, they always say it just helps relax you, and sometimes it even brings back memories from childhood."

Workers from the Ford Lima Engine Plant will put on their volunteer hats again on June 5th to help out at the West Ohio Food Bank for their resource fair and food distribution.
