LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Corvettes roared onto the campus of Lochhaven on Tuesday afternoon, giving residents and staff an up-close look at some of America's most iconic sports cars.
Residents and staff reached out to the local Glass Corvette Society to see if members would be willing to organize a car show on short notice. Club members were happy to help, saying Lochhaven is one of their favorite places to visit because it brings back fond memories for everyone involved.
Al Epps, president of the local Glass Corvette Society, said he still remembers the late 1960s when he first became interested in the classic car.
“His brother got home from Vietnam and picked him up at school, telling the principal that al was his mechanic. They took off in a 1967 corvette and cruised around. He's been hooked on the car ever since,” says Al Epps, President, Glass Corvette Society.
The local group has around 30 members, some of whom race Corvettes throughout the Midwest.
Club members have several more car shows planned for this summer.
