LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Greater Christ Temple is celebrating 85 years of service to the Lima community.
To recognize the milestone, 6th Ward Councilman Derry Glenn presented the church with a certificate of recognition honoring its more than eight decades of service to the city.
Pastor Michael Cooper II said many people have helped lay the foundation and build the church into what it is today, including through its outreach efforts in and around Lima’s South End.
“The church is not just about gathering of believers, but it's about being the literal hands and feet of Jesus, being able to show his love to the world through what we're able to do, how we're able to open up and allow people to have a safe place to come and to get connected and our motto here is build, connect and serve and we want to make sure that we're able to do that and to help people and meet them where their needs are and let them know that there is hope in Jesus Christ,” says Pastor Michael Cooper II, Greater Christ Temple.
Glenn said he will work on getting a Lima City Council resolution to further recognize Greater Christ Temple’s 85th anniversary.
