February 19, 2025, Press Release from Lima City Schools: Lima Senior High School’s Act Too Drama Club will present the musical “Hairspray” at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 1, in Lima Senior’s Joe Henderson Auditorium.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults, and will be available at the door.

The cast and crew are Lima City Schools’ students in grades 6-12. The musical is directed by Amy Phillips with music director Paul Fronzaglia, choreographer Amanda Sroka and set designer Karlyn Short.

“Hairspray” is a feel-good, toe-tapping musical set in 1960s Baltimore. It tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a spirited teenager with big dreams of dancing on the popular TV show “The Corny Collins Show.” Despite facing challenges due to her size and the societal pressures of the time, Tracy’s passion and determination lead her to fight for inclusion and equality, ultimately changing the course of the show and the lives of those around her.

With a vibrant mix of catchy songs, bold characters, and a message of acceptance, “Hairspray” celebrates the power of standing up for what's right, breaking barriers, and embracing individuality.

"Hairspray” is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
