The displayed works frequently focus on nature and the beauty of Ohio. On Thursday, the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District was invited to highlight the exhibit and discuss how some of the scenes depicted on canvas can be spotted in local backyards.

"One of the things I love about Charlie Harper's works is, especially living in Ohio, they're local stuff. So there's, there's some of these things that you might find in the Everglades or, you know, another part of the country, but a lot of this stuff, things like the red-bellied woodpecker and the fox and the raccoon and, you know, some of these things that keep coming back, the frogs and the squirrels, certainly the birds. You know, he does a lot of work with cardinals and chickadees and titmice, a lot of animals that are near and dear to my heart and could be to yours, because they live right here in your backyard," said Dan Hodges, naturalist with JAMPD.

The "Curious by Nature" exhibit will remain open until April 20.
