BLUFFTON, Ohio (WLIO) — Local teams are putting their skills to the test as the Lazy Man Triathlon returns to Bluffton after a nearly 10-year hiatus.

The fundraiser features 16 teams made up of men and women competing in three events throughout Father's Day weekend while raising money for local charities. The competition began with scotch doubles bowling at Southgate Lanes in Bluffton. Teams will wrap up the triathlon Saturday with a two-person golf scramble and a cornhole tournament.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Warriors Way, Allen County Abilities Baseball League and Bittersweet at Betty's Farms. Organizers say community participation is what makes the event possible and allows them to support organizations that are meaningful to them.

“These are three charities that are very fun and dear to me and when I see people come out here and partake in this, every single one of them I want to just hug and love on and tell them thank you. It's really meaningful to me,” said Ryan Staley, organizer of the Lazy Man Triathlon.

Staley said he hopes to make the Lazy Man Triathlon a regular Father's Day weekend tradition in the years ahead.
