LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Liberty Arts Magnet School hosted its annual “Spring Spotlight” event tonight, showcasing student creativity and accomplishments from throughout the school year.
The event highlighted student growth through a variety of art projects, musical performances and dance routines created in classrooms throughout the year. Students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade displayed artwork, writing and other projects while performing for friends and family members attending the event.
“I think it’s really important that students take pride in their work, and I think a lot of our students do that naturally. But when you see your work on the wall, you see your work blown up in a photograph or on a video, it kind of hits different, and when you can share it with your families and say, ‘Look, this is what I did, this is what I created. This is what I’m capable of,’” said Sara Chongson, K-4 music teacher at Liberty Arts Magnet.
School leaders say the event also gives families a chance to see how students are using the arts in the classroom.
