LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Christians around the world paused on Christmas Day to remember the meaning behind the holiday and the birth of Jesus Christ.
At St. John’s Church in Lima, a Christmas Day Mass was held for parishioners to celebrate the birth of the Son of God. Church leaders encouraged attendees to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas, especially during a time when many people are busy with holiday preparations.
“There is an enormous amount of good in our world. Yes, we have issues seeking peace in places of conflict, but when you look at the hearts of so many people, especially those for example, who will gather here this morning with us, they're eager to be able to show the love of Christ to those around them,” says Fr. David Ross of St. John and St. Rose parishes.
Ross says Christmas marks the beginning of Jesus’ journey for Christians, which concludes on Easter with the remembrance of his death, resurrection and sacrifice for all mankind.
