LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Different opinions expressed Tuesday night as Lima City Council talked again about the Cable Road Project.

The council of the whole committee met to discuss a repeal of a past ordinance authorizing the mayor to purchase or accept donations of real property for the Cable Road Improvement Project.   The city engineer presented an in-depth set of documents explaining how and why he thought the project would improve Cable Road.  The work will include a concrete median and a stretch southbound that will go down to one lane. Some concerns expressed tonight included access to businesses, along with the need for the project and its design.

Lima City Council debates Cable Road Project amid community concerns and opposition

"I put together a letter for council that addressed many of those concerns and the public can view that letter also by going to the city's public works webpage. You'll see all the most current data on the Cable Road Project, there's current project renderings, and a copy of that letter," says Ian Kohli, city engineer for the City of Lima.

"The opposition is somewhat scared. I think that they are trying to kick this can down the road, and I think that the Cable Road safety improvement projects are bad as a whole," says Adam Preston, petition starter, opposing the Cable Road Project.
