LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima City Council's Human Resources Committee discussed job reclassifications with the city's Civil Service Board and Human Resources Department.
The discussion focused on job positions with outdated titles and associated job descriptions, such as "clerk typist."
The discussion focused on job positions with outdated titles and associated job descriptions, such as "clerk typist." Over the years, these positions have taken on additional duties to accommodate the evolving workforce. Some employees under these job titles work a second job, and Monday night's discussion addressed the idea of offering more competitive wages to reflect the added responsibilities.
“We both agree that they are going to communicate and work together and get the job titles from being "clerk typist" and all of the different things like that and adding some more of the responsibilities to the jobs when they take that classification. They're giving them more work to do, so that will mean increase in pay in the level,” says Derry Glenn, Lima 6th Ward Councilman.

Glenn added that the Finance Committee will meet next month to continue these discussions.
