LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima City Council held a meeting on parity employees on Tuesday.

There have been concerns from city union members over negotiations for benefits. When these union members negotiate, they also speak for roughly 80 employees who are of parity, or not in their union. These employees are getting the same benefits and pay increases as the union members. The overall concern is that there is a lot of energy spent on pay raises for those among the higher paid members. We spoke to a city counselor about their next steps.

"We're just looking at how other cities might do that, and what the history is of why we do it that way, and if there's a way to do it that hopefully is fair for all employees and makes it so we can continue to have well paid employees and a good workplace," says Jeannine Jordan, 4th ward city counselor of Lima.

The meeting is closed for now until more research is done to find the best possible solution.
