LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima city street crews worked overnight to get ahead of Monday nights snowfall, with six trucks plowing streets throughout the night to keep up with the storm.

Crews were able to lay salt ahead of the system, helping keep primary roads clear by morning. With major routes in good condition, the focus has now shifted to side streets, where officials say they need cooperation from residents.

Lima Crews Work Overnight to Clear Streets, Ask Residents to Help Plows Access Side Roads

City officials are asking residents to make room for plows by moving vehicles off the street when possible. If parking off the road is not an option, they recommend following an even-odd system based on the date of the month. For example, on Dec. 3, drivers should park on the odd side of the street. Warner Roach, deputy public works director, said narrow streets make the process challenging.

Also with the narrow streets, please give us room to get down. If we can't get down the street, we can't plow it. So people like calling and complaining, but we will come down the street as long as you can make sure we have enough room to get down there. Roach said temperatures are expected to remain below freezing, which will make snow removal more difficult as accumulation hardens.
