LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A Lima man has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for an April murder.

Marcus Tyson, 45, was found guilty by an Allen County jury of murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence in the death of Anthony Townsend earlier this year.

Tyson was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the murder conviction. He also received an additional 36 months in prison for the tampering with evidence charge. The murder occurred after Tyson went to Townsend’s home to cut grass. While there, the two men became involved in an argument.

Townsend was stabbed during the altercation and was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Tyson fled the scene and was arrested later that same day in Indiana. He claimed the stabbing was done in self-defense.
