LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A large overdose awareness event was held Thursday in Lima.

More than 40 booths were set up at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center for an event focused on bringing hope, connection, support and healing to the community.

Raising awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding substance use and overdose were also key parts of the event. Area residents gathered to show their support and learn more about resources available in the community.

Lima overdose awareness event brings community together to offer support and resources

Several health and awareness organizations were on hand to provide information, support and resources to those who need help.

“It's an overdose awareness event, but truthfully, this is an event to bring the community together to provide resources to help end that stigma behind mental health and reaching out for, whether it's addiction treatment, different resources for recovery, detox, we have inpatient, outpatient, all of those services are here right now,” says Jessica Maag with Prevention Awareness Support Services.
