LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The investigation continues into the death of a Haitian national who was found shot Saturday afternoon in a South Lima home.
Ti Marc Saint Jean, 44, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the torso at a residence on South Central Avenue. Detectives say the investigation has been slow, as an interpreter is needed to conduct interviews with everyone involved. Saint Jean entered the country as part of the Biden’s administration asylum period.
According to Detective Sergeant Steve Stechschulte, the Lima Police Department is committed to resolving the case. However, there are two other cases involving Haitian nationals from the past week that have also been violent and require interpreter assistance.
The cost of hiring interpreters has become a growing expense for the department.
The Lima Police have contacted Homeland Security and ICE to assist in the investigation. In return, the department has provided assistance in federal operations. Now that the investigation includes federal agencies, they will have a much broader spectrum of objectives.
Additional information about the murder investigation will be released when it becomes available.
