LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima Senior is seeing their 70th year anniversary as a school. They celebrated at their very own basketball game.

Along with the varsity basketball game, Lima Senior had a ceremony to recognize their 70th anniversary. Alumni were featured throughout the court, whether that be through the pep band, the cheerleaders and ball captains during various eras of Spartan basketball. To kick off the game, all alumni present were invited to stand on the court and sing the Spartan’s alma mater.

Lima Senior High School celebrates 70th anniversary at home basketball game

There were historic pictures and other memorabilia within the lobby outside the gym to show the evolution of Lima Senior as we know today. Not only was there a ceremony, but merchandise for Spartans, young and old, to buy and represent their school.

"So, we're doing it here with the basketball game between Westerville North and Lima Senior so it's going to be a great basketball game. Two state ranked teams playing. We have a lot going on in the lobby, as you can see. Plus, we will be doing some halftime recognition," says John Zell, Athletic Director of Lima Senior.

By centering the celebration around the basketball game, Lima Senior High School says they were able to celebrate what it means to be a Spartan and cheer on the home team.
