LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima will be going green Saturday as the annual Irish Day Parade returns to Main Street.

The 31st annual Lima Irish Day Parade will be led by 96-year-old Patricia Saine as this year's grand marshal. The annual tradition was started to honor the Irish heritage of Lima, as different families march each year in the parade. Over the decades, the parade has grown into one of the biggest events in the city, with many local bands, businesses, and organizations taking part.

“When we're walking down the street, you can see just mounds of people everywhere, you know, from Main Street all the way down to square. And it's something that has turned into a great event for all of downtown Lima, especially with everything that's happening downtown. It's carried over to their businesses or their restaurants, and it's just a really neat day for people to come out and enjoy the day and continue to celebrate all weekend,” says Kelly Stolly, Irish Day Parade Committee.
