BEAVERDAM, Ohio (WLIO) — A Lima woman was seriously injured after the dump truck she was driving crashed near Beaverdam just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 48-year-old Rachel Young of Lima was driving a 2013 Mack dump truck westbound on U.S. 30 while hauling a load of rocks. Troopers said the truck suffered a tire blowout, causing it to leave the left side of the roadway and enter the median. The truck then struck a guardrail, traveled down an embankment and crashed onto the pavement of Napoleon Road below.
Troopers said Young appeared to have been partially ejected but remained trapped inside the truck. She was extricated from the wreckage and transported by the Beaverdam-Richland EMS squad to Lima Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The crash also damaged Napoleon Road, which will be temporarily closed for repairs. The crash remains under investigation.
