Lima, Ohio (WLIO) - They spend countless hours protecting those who can’t protect themselves, and three local animal agencies are getting a financial boost to help in their mission.
The Lima Kiwanis Club has donated proceeds from their virtual pet contest to three local organizations: Deb's Dogs, A Lotta Love Pet Rescue, and the Ohio SPCA & Humane Society Adoption Center of Allen County. Each organization is thankful for the donation and says it will be a big help for the animals they care for.

Assistant Manager and Humane Agent Evan Joseph with the Ohio SPCA Allen County Adoption Center says, “Most of our funding comes from donations. Donations of dog food, cat food, cat litter, money—anything really helps. But they are incredibly important to our organization.”

Debbie Hesler, founder of Deb’s Dogs, adds, “All donations go to vet bills and supplies. We’re 100% volunteer, so without them, it’s hard, it’s difficult. So this really makes it a lot better for the animals and for us to take care of them.”
You can learn more about each of these organizations on their websites or Facebook pages. They are always in need of volunteers and donations.
