LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima business leaders learning how to get the next generation ready for the workforce.
A panel of professionals speaking at the Chamber's Wake, Rattle, & Roll breakfast. All four were involved in a soft skills for career success workshop last year. It worked with local high school students to get them ready to hold a job and the skills needed to do so.
"When you go to work, you work with all types of people, and knowing how to interact and engage and be present with them and learn how to work together can help resolve all kinds of situations, and knowing that communication is so important," said Ashley Heaphy, a sales and marketing member of Primrose Retirement Communities.
"We want the mentors in our community to be the people that speak to the rising generation, whether it's students in the Workforce Edge program or in their own business, and then the final thing is, we just want to get the young adults up on their feet - they retain more, they retain everything, if they are active about it," said Nick Kellis, creator of Workforce Pro and Workforce Edge.
Organizers hope to hold another soft skills workshop for area high school students.
