Mercy Health — St. Rita's Medical Center Generic

April 2, 2025 - Press Release from Mercy Health:

LIMA, Ohio - Mercy Health is pleased to announce that we have reached a new, multi-year commercial insurance agreement with Cigna that keeps all Mercy Health physician practices, acute care hospitals, urgent care centers, ambulatory surgical centers (ASC) and additional care sites in-network. An agreement was reached on April 1 following a 24-hour extension, which ensures that there was no lapse in coverage for our patients at any point during these negotiations.

“We believe that access to quality health care services is vital for our community members. After several months of negotiations, we are pleased to have reached a new agreement that protects our patients’ access to affordable, compassionate care close to home,” said Matt Owens, MD, chief clinical officer, Mercy Health – Lima. “Having access to the providers you know and trust is critical for the health of our community, and we are grateful to our patients who entrust us with their care. We look forward to serving you for years to come.”

At Mercy Health, our goal is to have long-term agreements with all major payers, including Cigna, so our patients can have seamless access to quality care in our community. We understand that the possibility of Mercy Health being out of network with Cigna has been difficult, and we want to express heartfelt gratitude to our patients for their grace and support as we diligently worked through these negotiations.

We remain focused on continuing to invest in the health and well-being of our communities, while preserving our continued ability to provide compassionate and accessible care to patients. We are proud to have served the healthcare needs of the Lima community for nearly 110 years and look forward to continuing to focus on providing good help to all in need, especially those who are vulnerable and underserved.
