BLUFFTON, OH (WLIO) — Motorcyclists and Jeep owners gathered to honor the memory of a fallen Bluffton police officer.
Saturday marked the third year for the Dominic Francis Memorial Bike and Jeep Run. Francis was killed in the line of duty in March 2022. In addition to serving as an officer in Bluffton, Francis was a lieutenant with the Southwestern Hancock County Joint Fire Department. Along the route to Findlay, law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMS personnel helped pay tribute to Francis.
The annual run supports one scholarship each for Bluffton High School and Cory-Rawson High School. Organizers say they appreciate the continued support they receive for the event.
“The support we've had from Bluffton and the Corey Rossin area for the last four years have been unbelievably amazing and for all the cops and throughout the ride we have fire departments and different sheriff's offices helping out. It's amazing,” says Ricki Francis, Dominic’s wife.
During the first two years, the memorial run raised around $17,000 for scholarships to the two high schools.
