LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Ohio State Lima is celebrating the achievements and milestones of everyone on campus.
The university held its 2024-2025 academic celebration to recognize the academic accomplishments of graduates
On Thursday night, the university held its 2024-2025 academic celebration to recognize the academic accomplishments of graduates, as well as the teaching, mentoring, and research efforts of faculty and the dedicated service of staff. For campus officials, the event is a chance to shine a light on those who have made meaningful contributions throughout the year.
"This really is the culmination of an entire year. So for many students, many years worth of work, and it's an opportunity for us to just pause, reflect and celebrate the incredible accomplishments, both little and and large, that have amounted to this Ohio State degree," said Dr. Margaret Young, dean of Ohio State Lima.
Thursday’s student speaker, Agape Anderson, is graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology on the pre-med track. Through her speech, she aimed to showcase the value of a regional campus like OSU Lima.
"A lot of people have misconceptions and assumptions about regional campuses, but the opportunity here are limitless, and I really think that it can set you up great for the future. So I'm hoping for students this can continue to push them to do great things. I'm hoping for the parents of the students that they can be proud of their kids because they're doing great things here. And I'm hoping that the faculty can see that their great work is actually benefiting them," said Anderson.
