COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — After about two years in the role, Ohio State University President Ted Carter has resigned following the disclosure of an inappropriate relationship.
The university announced Monday that the 66-year-old Carter stepped down after revealing the relationship to the board of trustees during a special meeting Saturday.
According to the university, Carter offered his resignation during the meeting, and the board accepted it.
According to a university statement. The inappropriate relationship is with someone seeking public resources to support her personal business.
In a message sent to the campus community Monday morning, the university said Carter acknowledged wrongdoing and made a mistake in allowing inappropriate access to Ohio State leadership.
University officials say the board of trustees will announce a transition plan soon.
