LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Mother Nature turned up the thermostat this weekend, and people were looking for a place to chill.
Over at the Wapakoneta Waterpark, that’s exactly what they were doing. Whether it was getting in for a dip to cool off, going down the many slides, or doing cannonballs off the high dive, everyone was enjoying their time at the pool while trying to stay cool.
"We're doing everything we can to avoid too much sun, staying inside with the air conditioner, and then obviously coming to the swimming pool today, this pool, particularly, is there's something for every one of our kids. We've got five little kids ranging from nine and under, and there's something for each one of them," said Dean Puthoff, a father who was cooling off at the pool with his family.
But for some, cooling off means switching from the poolside to a scoop.

"Absolutely, it tastes better. You just got to eat it before it melts," said Tommy Hamlin, who was cooling off with some ice cream.
"Yeah, it tastes a lot better when it's all nice and warm out," added Lauren McGue, who was enjoying a treat with Hamlin.
"A lot of swimming. We went and got ice cream today, just trying to get out and do things that are fun, you know, kind of take our minds off of the unbearable heat," said Hamlin.
Whether it's at the pool or with a scoop, people are finding ways to beat the heat this weekend.
