LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima City Schools' summer lunch program continues to provide free meals to area children, with Thursdays proving to be a favorite thanks to Domino's Pizza.

The program offers hot lunches Monday through Thursday for any child age 18 and younger at several locations throughout the city. Children from Kingdom Day Care gathered Thursday to enjoy Pizza Day and shared their enthusiasm for one of the week's most anticipated meals.

"We're having Domino's and they're very amazing. They taste very good," said Faith Riley.

"It tastes good and it's really great and we have to be lucky because some kids don't get Domino's for Thursday and lunch," said Rylee January.

"Thursdays are just a great day to be at school because the food is great and everyone works really hard," said Norah Goodwin.

Free lunches are available Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Heritage, Independence, Liberty and Unity elementary schools.

The district also operates the Spartan Lunch Express, which stops at Lincoln Park from 11 to 11:20 a.m. and Faurot Park from noon to 12:30 p.m. Families are free to choose whichever location is most convenient each day. The summer lunch program is designed to ensure children in the community have access to nutritious meals while school is out of session.
