LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The city of Lima is moving forward with its neighborhood traffic program after reviewing months of public feedback from residents.
City officials say the input was gathered through community workshops and online surveys, which helped identify specific traffic concerns in neighborhoods across Lima. Among the most common issues raised were speeding vehicles and drivers using residential streets as cut-through routes.
Based on that feedback, the city developed a range of traffic-calming strategies aimed at improving safety and quality of life for residents. Proposed measures include high-visibility enforcement, raised crosswalks and other tools designed to slow traffic and discourage unnecessary through traffic.
City Engineer Ian Kohli said no two projects are the same and each requires a tailored approach.
“Each project is definitely unique. You have to understand the geometry of the roadway and the issues that the residents are having on their streets, and then use that toolbox to come up with solutions,” Kohli said.
The city plans to begin implementing and evaluating selected traffic-calming solutions in 2026. Officials say the results will help guide future decisions as the program continues.
