LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A local financial institution is making a major reinvestment in the Lima area to help meet the financial needs of individuals and businesses.

Superior Credit Union has invested $2.5 million in two locations within the city of Lima.

The credit union opened a new banking location at the corner of East Elm and South Main streets in the heart of downtown Lima. The project represents a $500,000 investment.

Superior Credit Union also invested $2 million in a new building on Cable Road near Clock Tower Plaza. The new branch replaces its former location on Allentown Road.

With the company's continued growth, Superior Credit Union officials say they expect to add new members and employees.

“We continue to add workforce. I would say right now we could probably use about another 15 people throughout our organization. And the beautiful thing is we've got some great staff here, but we bring new staff in. Next thing you know, we're promoting them and teaching them new skills, and they're all here to help our members. We like to invest where our members are, and when we see what's happening in downtown Lima now, we want to be a part of it. It's like we've provided a lot of capital investment to the businesses down here, and us being down here also sends a signal that the revitalization happening here is here to stay, and we're really looking forward to what's going to happen here in the next few years,” said Phil Buell, president and CEO of Superior Credit Union.

Superior Credit Union was formed in 1954 and has served its members for more than seven decades.
