LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships donated $23,935 to Family Promise of Lima-Allen County, raised during their annual Charity Car Show.

This year’s event marked the largest amount raised in the show’s 11-year history. On Aug. 1, more than 260 cars, trucks, and motorcycles filled the dealership’s lot to support the cause. Each year, the Charity Car Show selects a different organization to benefit. Ahl expressed gratitude for the community’s support.

Tom Ahl Charity Car Show raises record $23,935 for Family Promise

“Lima blessed us. I think it was a lot to do with what Family Promise is doing in the community, and helping these families stay together with their kids, try to get them jobs and get them back into society again, what they do, I think we all love and support, and I think that's one of the reasons we had such a big turnout,” said Tom Ahl, owner of Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships.

Family Promise Executive Director Hellen Douglas said the donation will make a significant difference for local families.

“These funds would be going to help the families be able to move forward. We buy a lot. We provide laundry for everybody in the facility. We have to provide three meals a day. We provide the bus passes. We provide transportation to get back and forth to job interviews. Basically, the overall just being able to move these families forward into housing and be able to sustain that housing," Douglas said.

Ahl announced that next year’s Charity Car Show will take place Aug. 7, 2026.
