LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships helped make Christmas a little brighter for local children on Friday.

The dealership donated its collected Toys for Tots gifts and presented a $1,500 check to the Marine Corps League. Volunteers say support like this is key as they work to collect, pack and distribute toys ahead of the holiday. Ahl says their goal is the same each year: making sure every child wakes up to something special on Christmas morning.

“What a great program. We want every child in the area to have something for Christmas. That’s so important. So, yeah, we’ve been supporting this for as long as I can remember,” said Tom Ahl, owner of the Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships.

“It means a lot. I mean, it’s going to put a smile on a lot of kids’ faces. So it’s always important that we have the community join in with the program. And that’s what Tom Ahl and the Marine Corps League always do for us. They’re always there to help out and provide toys, so we appreciate that very much,” said Paul Downing of the Lima Salvation Army.

Even though it’s late in the season, there’s still time to help. If you’d like to donate, you can drop off new, unwrapped toys directly at the Lima Salvation Army.
