LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A decision made nearly a century ago continues to pay off for one Lima family and the community around them.
Justin Walter, sales manager for Trisco Systems and a fifth-generation member of the family business, spoke at this morning’s Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce breakfast about the company’s deep roots in the area. His great-great-grandfather, William H. Walter, moved the business from Chicago to Lima — a move Justin credits with setting the foundation for generations of success.
“He hears people ask, ‘Why Lima?’ when it comes to starting or growing a business,” Justin said. “And he replies, ‘Why not Lima?’” He says the community has been good to both his family and the company, and he encourages others to take a chance on the region.
"Why don't we bring other families here? Do that same thing? You know, 90 years later, I'm still here. My family's still here, and we spent 90 years helping this community and the economic benefits — not only from us, but for everybody around us — and we're just one little piece of that puzzle," said Walter.
Though he once lived in Kentucky, Walter says returning to Lima is a choice he doesn't regret. He pointed to the region’s high quality of life and an abundance of things to do, especially this weekend, rattling off a long list of local events and attractions.
Many attendees at the breakfast agreed, saying the region offers more than people realize and that Lima continues to be a place where businesses and families can grow and thrive.
