LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The city of Lima is continuing its efforts to improve the streetscape in the downtown area, with Union Street between Elm Street and Wayne Street next on the list.

The city, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation, is in the early stages of the improvement project.

The project will be similar to improvements made to Central Avenue. Union Street will see new sidewalks, crosswalks, signals, lighting and curb upgrades, along with a bike lane, reverse-angle parking, landscaping and signage.

City administrators are currently seeking public input on the project.

“We're asking for residents to submit any questions and comments that they have about the project by September 19th that allows us to consider those comments as the project moves forward,” said Ian Kohli, city of Lima engineer.

Residents can leave comments with the city by calling 419-221-5288 or emailing engineering@limaohio.gov.

Construction is anticipated to begin in February 2028.
