LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – After serving local veterans for more than three decades, the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio is searching for a new home to continue its mission.

The pantry serves nearly 800 veterans and their families each month from its location on North Street in Lima. While the service will remain the same, the location will not. The property was sold by Mercy Health St. Rita’s, and pantry leaders are now seeking a new building.

“What we need most is to have a place at least 1500 to 1800 square feet. It’s got to be a single level, easy to get into and with parking,” said Betsy Potts, director of the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio.

Potts said she has not been given a move-out date but hopes to secure a new space soon. The pantry would like to stay in the Lima area, preferably downtown, because it is a central location for veterans. Those interested in helping can email vetfoodpantry@gmail.com.
