LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — After several years of planning and construction, Lima City Schools is preparing to dedicate a new Veterans Wall of Honor recognizing graduates who served in the U.S. military.
The memorial, located in front of Lima Senior High School, currently features nearly 800 names with space to recognize future veterans. The wall honors graduates of Central High School, South High School and Lima Senior High School who completed active-duty military service. The project was funded entirely through private donations and in-kind services.
"We will continue to ask or request donations because every year we'll have Spartans continue to graduate and choose the military as their primary career path. And once they are done with their active duty, we definitely want to make sure their names go up," said Lima City Schools Superintendent Andre Rudolph.
The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. in front of Lima Senior High School. The event is open to the public.
