LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — As Hunger Action Awareness Month comes to a close, the West Ohio Food Bank says the need for assistance will continue.
The food bank serves an 11-county area and emphasizes that its efforts will not stop after September. In fact, officials say the demand for assistance is expected to grow as the holidays approach.
The organization encourages community members to advocate with local, state, and federal lawmakers for food programs and funding. They also anticipate an increase in community support during the holiday season.
Jason Aldrich, communications and PR manager for the West Ohio Food Bank, said, “That's always a big time of year for giving, and we urge folks to continue to do that, get your churches, your groups, your organizations, to come out and volunteer, to do food drives to help us with our food distributions that we do two times a month for the community.”
