LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — With temperatures expected to drop next week, a local agency is reminding residents they may be eligible for assistance with heating expenses.
The Winter Crisis Program, operated through West Ohio Community Action Partnership, or WOCAP, is now open. Residents who are at or below 175% of the federal poverty guidelines can apply for a one-time payment to help cover heating and electric costs.
The assistance applies to natural gas and electric utilities, bulk fuel, coal, or wood, with benefit limits for each type of heating. In addition, the program provides up to $1,500 for heating unit repair or replacement.
Residents interested in applying can contact WOCAP at (419) 495-0200 for full eligibility requirements.
