LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Democratic candidate for Ohio Secretary of State Allison Russo spoke to members of the Ohio Farmers Union during their 92nd State Convention.
Russo, currently serving as the state representative for the northwestern portion of Columbus, emphasized the importance of having a Secretary of State who is pro-voter. She said voters should have confidence that their voices are heard on election day and that their votes are respected. Russo also outlined her plans if elected Ohio’s top election official.
“I think there are a number of issues. Number one, no longer will there be a secretary of state that goes before this General Assembly and advocates against voters? The other thing is, we need more resources, I think, put on voter education and voter outreach, because the only way that this democracy works and you have government that is truly representative and is transparent, it is in its actions, if it feels accountable to the people, and that happens through your vote,” said Allison Russo, Democratic candidate for Ohio’s Secretary of State.
Russo will face Democratic challenger Bryan Hambley in the May 5 primary election.
