MT. CORY, Ohio (WLIO) — Arlington picked up right where it left off last season, powering past Cory-Rawson 64–23 on Friday night as the Red Devils continued to look like one of the region’s toughest early-season teams.

Coming off a 24–4 campaign that ended in the state semifinals, Arlington wasted no time. After winning the opening tip, junior guard Ayden Cavinee drilled a corner three to put the Red Devils up 7–2 within the first minute of play. Moments later, Karsen Cochensparger buried another three from the opposite side of the floor as Arlington began to pull away.

Cory-Rawson fought back behind Carson Reese, who stepped into a deep jumper off the glass for three of his team-high 11 points, snapping an 18–0 Arlington run. The Hornets added more from long range as Connor Reese knocked down a corner three to keep the deficit manageable.

But Arlington’s size and balance were too much. Senior big man Calvin Willow powered up inside for a strong finish, continuing a steady night for the Red Devils as they controlled the paint and the tempo throughout the game.

Arlington cruised the rest of the way, improving to 2–1 with the 64–23 victory. Cory-Rawson drops to 0–2 but showed competitive flashes from both Reese brothers.
