Mercer, Van Wert and Hardin County residents are being asked to keep an eye out for a possible scam that has occurred in their areas. The scam entails a woman approaching a resident and maintaining their attention while a man entered the residence to steal items within the home.
The Van Wert County Sheriff's office responded to a tip that a woman matching the description, and a matching truck were spotted. The truck was stopped and two people have been placed in custody.
38-year-old Daniel Burke, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, is being charged with one count of burglary. 26-year-old Savannah Williams, of Mendon, Ohio, is being charged with one count complicity to commit burglary.
The arrests were a collaborative effort of the Van Wert, Mercer and Hardin County Sheriff's Offices.
