NEW BREMEN, Ohio (WLIO) – Butterflies spread their wings and flew in New Bremen on Monday night, all for a good cause.
The Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities released the butterflies to celebrate their new "Wings and Blooms Community Garden." Various flowers were also planted in the soil with hopes of new butterflies being born. The new garden was created as a space for anyone to come out, relax, and reflect while also honoring the memory and lives of people who have passed away.

“We just wanted to have a celebration and dedication this [Monday] evening to sort of open things up to the community, as well as a butterfly release, in memory and honor of those that we've lost over the years. We want this space to be open to anyone as a place to reflect, meditate, just enjoy,” says Renee Kohler, Superintendent, Auglaize County Board of DD.
Kohler also says the butterfly release is a metaphor symbolizing the growth and success of people receiving services at the Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities or spreading their wings out into the world.
