ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) — Employees at Grand Lake Health System are getting a helping hand with patient care, thanks to a new device.

Spectators and hospital staff gathered as the facility showcased its newly installed Hercules Patient Repositioners. Instead of nurses manually boosting patients in bed, they can now use the Hercules equipment to assist with the task. The innovative technology aims to enhance caregiver safety, improve patient outcomes, and help the hospital retain nurses.

Grand Lake Health System introduces new patient repositioning technology

“I feel great to know that we're supporting our staff and our patients with this technology. The staff have provided overwhelmingly positive feedback. We have gotten to use the technology for the last couple of months, and we have realized that it not only benefits our post-op C-section patients but our patients in labor who get epidurals as well,” said Amy Becker, nurse manager at Grand Lake Health System.

St. Marys is the first inpatient care center in Ohio to introduce the technology to its birthing center.
