The folks who came out did not leave hungry with a variety of foods to choose from, including authentic Haitian, Jamaican, Caribbean, Thai, and even barbecue on the menu. With the Haitian-Caribbean culture on full display, the headline of the evening's festivities came from a local Lima Reggae group, Stedic Music.
"Because of the influx of Haitians coming into Findlay, there has been a lot of mystery behind where they come from, what their culture is, their language, how they act, and dress. I think that a good way of understanding them is to break down those misconceptions or barriers and just inviting the public to come in and take a look for themselves. The Caribbean culture is a very unique culture. So, if you just come over and try the food and listen to the music, I'm sure you will enjoy yourself," explained Jennifer Davis, Cultural Event Coordinator.
On September 21st, the library will be hosting their Hispanic Heritage Celebration.
Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center, John Simmons, added, "I mean, really, it's about outreach and bringing the community together, and just having a good time. The weather is beautiful; it's nice and sunny. It's just a great opportunity to hang out with your neighbors."
