It was a beautiful day on Friday for a car wash and a local summer program took advantage of the weather.
It was all hands on deck at the Bradfield Community Center's fundraiser for their summer program. The suds were flying as kids were washing and drying car after car. It was only $5 to get your ride sparkling clean. The money raised will go to help with the center's summer program.
"So our summer program just kicked off this week and the kids we're collaborating with Rhodes State and they're coming in and adding their health and science in our program and they're working with the kids daily," said Kesha Drake, Executive Director at Bradfield Community Center. "And then we have our health and fitness portion of our program where they're doing some Drumfit, we had Jana Jo come in and do some Zumba with the kids, so we're just making sure that they're overall they're active and still getting educated at the same time."
Drake says participating in the car wash is an educational experience in itself teaching the students that they need to work to earn the money for field trips.
