Commuters who ride RTA buses will also be able to pedal their way around town thanks to a Federal Transit Administration grant. A portion of an FTA operating grant was used to purchase and install bike racks on all of the large buses in the RTA fleet. This makes it possible for people who live farther away from the set routes to reach the bus stops. It also allows cyclists to use their bikes once they reach their destination. An added benefit of the project is the city's bicycle patrols plan to use the buses too. All of the bike racks have been installed, and the project was completed at a cost of eighty-nine hundred dollars. There is no additional charge for the use of bike racks other than the normal bus fare.
