A capital budget for the state of Ohio has been introduced to legislature.
The budget proposed $500,000 for projects in Allen County, notably $200,000 set aside for environmental cleanup and renovation of the former Ohio Department of Transportation property on N. West Dr. The building will be used for storage for the Allen County Engineer for now. For the Allen County jail, $100,000 has been proposed for security improvements. Another $200,000 would go to not-for-profit Cornerstone of Hope to increase mental health care in Lima, a big focus in the proposed budget.
"One of our State Representatives who actually lost a child to suicide has went through this program for grief counseling and it's a very high-quality program that kind of fills maybe a gap that we have in services here," says State Rep. Bob Cupp (R-Lima).
Other counties that could receive funding should the budget pass are: Auglaize County with $600,000, Putnam County with $240,000, and Van Wert County for $610,000.
