WAPAKONETA, OHIO (WLIO) - More families are getting some help this year thanks to the Christmas Jubilee and the Wapakoneta community.

Christmas Jubilee helping 145 families in the Wapakoneta School District

Thanks to students, businesses, and individuals stepping up with money and donations, the Christmas Jubilee committee is giving gifts, food, or both to the families that need a little help this holiday season.

In their third year, the organization is helping 145 families in the Wapak School District, which keeps growing each year from the nearly 50 they helped in their first year. Thanks to students, businesses, and individuals stepping up with money and donations, the Christmas Jubilee committee is giving gifts, food, or both to the families that need a little help this holiday season. Organizers say they are blessed to live in a community where people step up to help their neighbors in need.

“We were short on bikes, so a separate business talked to our PR person and said, 'How many bikes do you need?' And so he wrote out a check and said, 'Go buy bikes.' The donations keep coming in. We have the money boxes around town, and the people have been putting their loose change in. The gift cards for the teenagers. We have always put out on Facebook it’s really hard to get people to buy for the teenagers. So, apparently people decided this year that’s who they were buying for, because the teenagers are making out better than the small kids this year,” says Becky Puff, Christmas Jubilee Committee.

The Christmas Jubilee is looking at maybe helping around 175 families next year, and they will be discussing other fundraisers they can do throughout the year to help meet the needs of the families they help during the holidays.
