LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Thermometers are buried in the red this week and that has some local companies working to beat the heat.

The City of Lima's trash hauler Rumpke is getting to work well before the sun comes up to avoid the worst heat of the day. The utilities department getting the word out to make sure everyone has their trash out to the curb.

Director Mike Caprella says it was a logical choice to make sure everyone stays safe and service isn't interrupted. "Rumpke's earliest starting time is typically 6 AM to make sure they don't wake folks up when they're picking up trash, but they called to tell the city they'll start at 5 AM in some areas to beat the heat," said Caprella.

Caprella says there will be trash pick-up on Friday as well to make sure there's no back-up in service.
