PIQUA, Ohio (WLIO) — Division VI featured another all–West Central Ohio showdown Friday night as Coldwater and Anna met for a Midwest Athletic Conference rematch at Alexander Stadium.
The Rockets won the regular-season meeting back in Week 4, a 14–7 decision. But just one year ago, Coldwater defeated Anna for the regional championship on its way to capturing the Division VI state title.
Coldwater opened with an eight-point lead in the first quarter, but Anna responded behind sophomore quarterback Logan Ziegenbusch. The Rockets’ signal-caller tucked the ball, broke free up the sideline, cut back inside and dodged multiple tacklers on a highlight run to bring Anna within 8–6.
The Cavaliers answered quickly. Karsyn Homan dropped back and fired deep, connecting with Cadin Obringer in stride. Obringer outran the final defender to extend Coldwater’s lead back to eight.
Midway through the third quarter, the Rockets struck again. Ziegenbusch went to the air, hitting Carson Dues on a downfield throw for the touchdown, trimming Coldwater’s lead once more.
But the Cavs held firm the rest of the way.
Coldwater defeated Anna 14–12, repeating last year’s result and earning another trip to the Division VI state semifinal. The Cavaliers will face Hopewell-Loudon next week.
