Darren Maier Signs Off Lima Weather Forecast

Darren Maier said his final goodbyes Friday night after a solid eight year run at WLIO TV and your Hometown Stations. Maier arrived in Lima in March of 2003 from Connecticut. Maier was the station's first certified meteorologist ever hired.  As chief meteorologist he went on to build a team of other meteorologist to win AP's Outstanding Weather Operations in both 2006 and 2009.

Maier's told  his viewers Friday would be his final weathercast. He announced he is heading to WEAU TV in Eau Clair, Wisconsin.

Maier's final week in Ohio was a doozy.  On Monday Maier stood outside the Wapakoneta Space Museum as the stations 6pm entire newscast originated from Wapakoneta.  Maier at one time could be barely be seen as he blended in with the blowing snow and the whiteness of the mock space capsule in the parking lot. The area was hit with 6 inches of the white stuff in a matter of hours.

On his final day, Maier's forecast another 3 to 7 inches for West Central Ohio and true to form, freezing rain and snow hit the area on schedule along with thunder and lighting. It was a perfect send off for one of the areas most respected weather personalities.

But before Darren could load up the moving trucks...His colleagues at WLIO decided to re-live one of  Maier's more talked about weather moments.  Maier's was left speechless after a series of behind the camera moves made it impossible to Maier's to catch his breath.
