The community and economic development committee meets to discuss a possible update to the South Main Street Corridor.
Zoning overlays would bring new businesses downtown like the city saw during the booming years.
Current residential and industrials businesses would not have to relocate with the changes but vacant buildings would have to abide by the new zoning overlays.
Kibby Corners Development Corporation invested $25,000 in the zoning studies and are looking to have more daycares, nursing homes, and banks on Main Street.
Committee members believe it be reliving a homecoming for downtown Lima.
If council votes to support the zoning overlays during the next council meeting, it would then go to the city planning committee.
